6-3-25 THOUGHTS
This has always been a troubling passage. I have been forced to deal with it on a very personal level just recently. How does one pray for a loved one with a disease that has no cure, at least as the doctors tell me? Here’s my answer. I believe in the God of all creation. He is the POTTER, I am the CLAY. From that position, I can ask God anything I want to! His answer... yes, no or wait, is sufficient, because it falls to “one who believes GOD is right”! Whatever the answer is, God is right! The clay is ready for the potter to mold and make as He pleases. The inheritance promise is unaffected by this transaction. My faith and belief in God is only strengthened by this interaction. The HEART and MIND of the one praying is key! I do not have to UNDERSTAND! Faith and trust and love is sufficient! THE HISTORY OF GOD’S LOVING KINDNESS TELLS THE STORY. Ps 34:17 [The righteous] cry, and the LORD hears And delivers them out of all their troubles. Rom 8:26-27 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Jas 1:5-8 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
My Prayer:
Help us to trust and obey as we grow in love toward You. Teach us to pray, and help us to pray with our whole heart. We need intercession, when we pray beyond our capacity to pray. Help us to stretch beyond ourselves in Your direction. Help us to abide close to You, O God. In the name of the One who saves us, Amen.
